Individual Therapy
Individual therapy can provide a space to slow down, understand what you're experiencing, and develop a clearer sense of what you want for yourself and your relationships.
I provide individual therapy for adults in San Francisco and throughout California via telehealth. My practice is especially focused on LGBTQ+ clients, gay men, men's mental health, relationships, sexuality, and the ways these different parts of life can intersect.
What We Can Work On
People begin therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a specific problem you'd like to address. Other times, you may simply have a sense that something isn't working and want help understanding why.
Some of the concerns I work with include:
Depression, low self-esteem, and self-criticism
Dating and relationship patterns
Communication and intimacy
Sexuality and sexual concerns
Questions around identity, masculinity, or self-expression
Shame and difficulty feeling comfortable with yourself
Anxiety, stress, and feeling overwhelmed
Life transitions and major changes
Loneliness and difficulty building meaningful connections
Work, career, and personal direction
Family relationships and boundaries
Infidelity and relationship challenges
You don't need to have a diagnosis or be in crisis to begin therapy. Sometimes therapy is simply an opportunity to better understand yourself and make intentional changes.
LGBTQ+ Therapy
A significant part of my practice is working with gay men and LGBTQ+ adults.
For some clients, sexuality or identity is the central reason for coming to therapy. For others, it is one part of a larger picture involving relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, sex, family, work, or life transitions.
Therapy can provide a place to explore these experiences without having to explain or defend your identity.
If you're specifically looking for therapy focused on the experiences of gay men, you can learn more about my approach on my Therapy For Gay Men page.
Men’s Mental Health
My practice also focuses on men's mental health.
Many men have learned to handle difficult experiences by staying busy, pushing through, keeping things to themselves, or trying to solve problems independently. Those strategies can be useful in some situations, but they can also make it difficult to recognize or communicate what you're feeling.
Therapy can be an opportunity to develop a different relationship with emotions, vulnerability, relationships, and self-understanding.
Let’s Get Started
I offer in-person therapy from my office in the Castro District of San Francisco, as well as online.
