Therapy for Gay Men

Being a gay man can shape how we experience relationships, sex, masculinity, family, aging, identity, and belonging. Sometimes the challenge isn't simply knowing that you're struggling. It's finding a therapist who understands the context you're navigating.

I provide therapy for gay men in San Francisco who want a space where they can talk openly about their lives, relationships, sexuality, and mental health without having to explain or defend who they are.

I take a collaborative, humanistic approach to therapy. You are the expert on your own life; my role is to help you better understand what's happening, identify patterns, consider possibilities, and build confidence in your ability to make decisions that align with your values.

Concerns Specific to Gay Men

Sex & Intimacy

Sexuality can be an important part of mental health and relationships, but it isn't always easy to talk about. My training in sex therapy allows us to discuss sexual concerns directly and without judgment.

We might explore differences in desire, sexual anxiety, communication about sex, sexual identity, intimacy, sexual confidence, or questions about what you want from your sexual life.

Non-Monogamy

I also work with gay men who are navigating relationships that don't fit a traditional model of monogamy.

Whether you're considering opening a relationship, already practicing non-monogamy, experiencing conflict around agreements or boundaries, or simply want to understand your relationship patterns more deeply, therapy can provide a space to slow things down and have honest conversations. This can be in individual therapy, or in couples therapy.
