I integrate humanistic and existential approaches into my practice as primary modalities. As opposed to manualized treatments, I focus on common factors that have been found to be effective across various therapies, such as building a strong therapeutic relationship and clear expectations.

My training and experience includes providing emotion-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), harm reduction, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). As appropriate, I can utilize these styles to best support you.

Sex therapy specifically concentrates on addressing sexual difficulties and concerns within the context of intimate relationships. This can include challenges with sexual dysfunction, communication problems, sexual trauma, or exploring sexuality and sexual orientation. As a sex therapist I have received specialized training in human sexuality, including sexual health, sexual function, and various sexual concerns. I am comfortable discussing sexual topics which other therapists without such training may not be open to discussing.

Individual therapy and sex therapy are not mutually exclusive! Many people come to me with challenges related to sex and intimacy while also having challenges in other areas of their life. I recognize the overlap between our mental health and our sexuality, and seek to treat you as a whole person.

My sessions are client-led, meaning that I welcome you to decide what we will speak about and set goals for each meeting. Some come in with a specific problem to address for the meeting, while others may choose to explore a stream of consciousness. I aim to provide a non-judgmental space to explore thoughts and emotions associated with current stressors and develop insights about yourself. In addition to this, we may explore strategies to manage stress, set boundaries, challenge negative thought patterns, and increase self-compassion.

I generally work well with people who are seeking a supportive and non-directive approach. You are the expert on your life, and my goal is to provide support that will lead you to feel that you have the skills and confidence to manage it. I typically do not tell people I work with that to do, but instead help them explore options to make the best choice for them. I am committed to providing long-term therapy as well for those who want continuous support.

I have worked with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and experiences. I have received training under some great mentors and have a wide range of tools in my tool belt. While I hope that the tools I have can be helpful for you, I recognize that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. If in an initial consult or working together we find that something isn’t quite working well, I am connected with a group of amazing colleagues I can refer you to who all approach therapy differently and have different life experiences.

With individuals, I see many clients who are interested in doing long-term work to develop deeper insights about their selves while also developing strategies to manage current stressors. I also see some clients interested in short-term work, in which I utilize a strategic and solution-focused approach to manage immediate stressors.

Couples and relationship therapy can vary depending on the presenting concerns. Many couples choose to work together for a few months to address specific concerns, while some may choose to work together for longer to address issues with long-term commitment and security in their relationship.
