Couples Therapy

About Couples Therapy

Relationships require more than love. They require communication, trust, vulnerability, flexibility, and the ability to navigate difficult moments together. Many couples struggle with these topics and wait until things get bad before they seek help. And this is not necessarily their fault; many of us grow up without examples of healthy relationships and models of communication. That’s where couples therapy can help.

I primarily provide couples and relationship therapy for LGBTQ+ couples and partners in a variety of relationship structures, including monogamous, open, and polyamorous relationships.

I use an emotion-focused approach and take an active role in helping couples identify recurring patterns and have conversations that may otherwise become stuck. We'll work toward understanding not only what you're arguing about, but what each person is experiencing underneath the conflict, and how you can respond to one another differently.

LGBTQ+ Relationships

LGBTQ+ relationships can involve experiences that aren't always well understood in traditional couples therapy.

My work with LGBTQ+ couples incorporates an understanding of the ways sexuality, identity, community, family, gender, and social expectations can influence relationships. I aim to create a space where both partners can be fully themselves while also taking responsibility for how they participate in the relationship.

Non-Monogamy & Polyamory

I have particular experience working with consensually non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships.

Therapy can help partners clarify agreements, communicate about needs and boundaries, navigate jealousy and uncertainty, repair trust, and determine what kind of relationship structure works for them.

The goal isn't to make your relationship look a particular way. It's to help you create relationships that are intentional, communicative, and sustainable.
